Saying YES to His NO!
We find it relatively easy to thankGod for saying yes to prayers we have prayed – healing from sickness, promotion on job, admission into college of your choice, spiritual growth, financial freedom, healing of marriage, and so many more amazing blessings. But, when was the last time we genuinely thanked God for saying NO to our requests? I shudder to think of the possible smears and cumulative blots on, and dead-ends and culde-sacs in my life, had he not said NO.
When I look back over my life and see all the times God said NO, and how he saved me from ship wrecking my life against the icebergs of unwise choices, I rejoice and thank him for his amazing preserving grace. In short, I am learning how to say YES to God’s NO.
When was the last time you genuinely thanked God for telling you NO? In what areas has God said NO to you, and when you see the big picture, you were glad that he did? How are you doing saying YES to God’s NO?

Man, that is a profound way of thinking. I can't say I've practiced this, which may be why I *have* gotten into all the kinds of messes that you describe.

I agree with you Marvin, for I realize that His NO is a Yes to grace, a Yes to favor and a Yes to my salvation. I thank God everyday for NO.

Amazingly enough, I have found peace in practicing this habit! I became more clear to me during the days and months after 9/11 hearing and reading stories of people who, for some reason or another, were late to the office or missed the plane that day. Giving respect and condolences to those whose time it was and taking nothing from the losses that their families experienced and continue to experience, I have learned to thank God for the no. Further, I have come to realize that God's "no", does not always mean "no"…sometimes it means "Not now!" Patience is a virtue, and I have found and continue to find comfort and blessings in patience!
