They Outnumber the Sand

Have you ever felt like some days nobody thinks about you? I mean, no calls, no emails, no texts, no “I was just in the neighborhood” visits, nothing that says someone is thinking about. I have felt this way many days. It seems when I feel that way, I am drawn to David’s lyrics in Psalm 139:17-18:
“How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I wake, I am still with you.”
When you feel like nobody else is thinking about you, I want you to remember that our heavenly Father is thinking of you. His thoughts about you are highly valued, prized, splendid, and precious. Thoughts like:
I love you
No weapon formed against you will prosper
My plans are not to harm you, but to give you a hope and a future
I am your shepherd; you shall not want
I am your light and salvation
I will never leave you nor forsake you
Greater is Me that is in you than he that is in the world
Cast all your cares upon me; I care about what happens to you.
I will renew your strength
I love you so much that I gave my only Son to die for your sins so that we could be together
What God-thoughts are you drawn to when you feel like nobody is thinking about you?

Remembering that He delights in me…. in me! Wow! And He says that He longs to fellowship with me. So when I feel no one's thinking of me, I remember He always wants my fellowship.
It's sometimes hard for me to even imagine that the Lord delights in me, desires to spend time with me and longs for my attention!

As I'm waiting for friends to call (Right now actually) and the phone isn't ringing (though they said they would call), I am reminded that it's HE and I, so I am never alone. I can stop waiting for….. something to do or somewhere to go or someone to call. I am with the One I need to be with right NOW.
So, I am going to spend time with God in conversation. Have a blessed day Marvin, thanks

It is not healthy feel this way. However, this is a cool reminder if a person gets depressed when a friend does not call, text, or email. Maybe the friend is just busy for a moment. It is good to know even then that God is always present. An absence or silence from a friend needs to be looked at as temporary, and external to avoid feeling depressed.

True that, true that! Though unsuccessful, I still try to wrap my mind around the fact that he delights in me. It really is an awesome thought to know he loves me and that I am his treasured child. Wow! Your voice always adds value to the conversation here, and today is no different. Grace and peace.

You are absolutely right. Yet, many people, believers and non-believers feel this way, and it is great to know that we have a heavenly Father who constantly thinks about his children. The beauty of this passage is not that his thoughts are quantitative, but they are qualitative. The depths and quality of his thoughts about us are immeasurable and inexhaustible. What an overwhelming and comforting thought! Thanks for adding your voice to the conversation here. Grace and peace.

I can relate to those feelings sometimes. As I grow in Christ I don't see this as a bad thing. Sometimes we need to have silence around us just to connect and center our thoughts and focus on Christ. It reminded me of when Jesus had to FIND alone time away from people. He took the time in the wilderness to connect with the Father. In times when I feel like no one is thinking of me I just reflect and think of God giving me that time and moment to connect with him. Just find the peace and joy when feelings like this overwhelms you, its better then people calling, emailing and demanding your time away from the father. This is just a time for us to all rest and to connect with our Loving Heavenly Father. Great post

"Oh, quanto mi sono preziosi i tuoi pensieri, o Dio!
Quant'è grande il loro insieme!
Se li voglio contare, sono più numerosi della sabbia;
quando mi sveglio sono ancora con te."
Salmo 139:17-18 (Italian Version)

This is a great point you make. Our times of feeling lonely and abandoned is the perfect time to connect with our heavenly Father. We simply have to discipline ourselves to slow down long enough to make the connection. I need to intentionally build these times in my schedule more often. Your voice on this point added value to the conversation. Thanks, Sandra.

That's the beauty of Jesus His unconditional love. I'm so glad His love has no limit and I personally He is the one person I can call My true family. He really understand me and accept me as me that's so refreshing
